Light amount of creamy white head. Light golden color. Subtle amount of fresh, lightly toasted malt, with a little lemon tinge, for the aroma. Good amount of sharp herbal flavor that fades to the fresh basil, which doesn't overpower the lightly toasted malt.

Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a medium golden amber with a two finger white head with great retention and solid lacing. Aroma of pale and lightly biscuit malt, slight diacetyl, basil (I'm also getting some sage, but that is not listed as an ingredient); not much hops. Flavor is pale malt, basil, light undefinable hops and light summer herbal notes. Medium bodied with moderate creaminess; nice mouth feel. An interesting and pleasant light ale. It's easy to see why this is one of the flagships for this brewery. The basil is distinct and also leaves other spicy summer herb character in the brew. The malt seems at first to be almost nondescript, but supports the herbal flavors well. Although this seems to be hopped, not much distinct hop varietal character; the hops meld with the basil herbalness to leave a pleasant light bitterness in the finish. Body is good with a surprisingly creamy mouthfeel for the ABV. Well done and delivers the herbal experience it promises..
