The beer gushed on me and it was a little bit more sour than expected, but further no signs of spoilage. However, I still didn't like it too much even after I had it degased by swirling it extensively. It is roasty and got some quite nice complexity with the tartness and even some fruits like sour cherries, but nothing it just didn't click with me.

Pitch black pour with a nice almost two finger mocha head, slowly getting a bit frothy and receding in a long time. Leaves pretty curtains on the glass.
A rich dark chocolatey smell, deep roasted malts (hint of smoke) with some nice oak to go along. Some whisky malt. The expected vanilla, dark licorice, a bit of orange peel and a pretty light dark fruit component, with raisin and prune, plus some faint musty dark grapes.
Shouldn't get fooled by the nose. A rich mix of slightly tart cherries/berries and Scotch whisky up front, packing a nice bite without being too boozy. Some fig, dark grapes, easing into chocolate and caramel. The nice zing from the start never leaves, helped by licorice, not even in the finish when deep roasted malts appear, with some nice coffee powder too. Not too bready, tho there's a spicy grain note, i think this might have rye in it. Some spicy hop here and there, nice and pinchy. Light whisky dryness to close it up.
Aftertaste has Scotch, espresso and cocoa powder, dark bread crust (not ashy, but nicely roasted), light raisin, and a nice dusty wood note. Medium body, low carbonation, towards being watery, but not quite there. As a result, it's really easy to drink, especially considering the nicely hidden alcohol.
A nice and complex RIS, with some really interesting (tho was expecting to use the word "unique" after reading the label) barrel aging. Wouldn't call this a "hidden gem" because the price is pretty steep. But in the end, justified.
