Chahklit is a Baltic Porter brewed with almonds and earthy Ceylon Cinnamon. Cacao Nibs impart rich chocolate depth. It ages in Caribbean Rum Barrels to lend oak complexity and subtle Rum nuance.

Dark black with a khaki head, creamy in appearance.

Aroma: for the first time ever, the wood aroma is the most potent aspect of a beer ive sampled. Smoke, campfire. Wood wood and more wood.

Taste: smoky, oak times ten, toasted and roasted malt, slight bittersweet chocolate note, faint rum to finish it all off. I dont detect the cinnamon in either the aroma or taste but the almonds show themselves in the taste as it warms. There is a lot going on and its mostly unfamiliar to me, I admit.

Feel: medium mouthfeel but on the lighter side of medium, slightly chewy.
im intrigued. This is an interesting porter.

On-tap 6/24/2016 at Doherty’s East Ave Irish Pub in Pawtucket, RI, served in a snifter pint glass.

A: The beer is a deep dark brown color, with a thin off-white head that fades quickly and leaves a thin lace on the glass.

S: The aroma contains chocolate, licorice, dark fruit, roasted malts and a faint touch of hops.

T: The taste starts out sweet with flavors of licorice, dark chocolate and dark fruit. Then a hearty roasted malt character comes in. the hops presence is mild but complementary and brings a good balance. The after-taste is slightly sweet.

M: Crisp and smooth, medium-to-heavy body, light-to-medium carbonation, finish is very dry and slightly sticky.

O: Tasty, goes down easily, not too filling, good kick, good representation of style, this is a solid beer to drink for while if you’re in the mood for the style.

Had on draft at Lulus in Allston, poured into a 10oz snifter.

Black with very little head that dissipates quickly. Looks very slick. Nose is alcohol warmth with some cocoa, notes of dark fruit. First sip was fairly jarring; you get hit hard with a woody, alcohol flavor from the rum barrels (presumably) that fades quickly into an earthy note. Maybe a little bit burnt flavors as well. Cocoa and cinnamon are also present, although more subtly. That initial boozy shock fades a bit after a few sips, but it still tastes woody. Feel is slick, but goes down pretty easy with the flavors fading relatively quickly.

Overall I was excited to try this based on Stony Creek's other beers, but this will not go down as a favorite. I found it to be very unbalanced; the oak flavor was not the good kind of oak, and there was an almost burnt taste that wasn't pleasant.

Had at the brewery last night, poured into a 10oz snifter glass. Chahklit is a Baltic porter that is aged in a rum barrel with chocolate, I believe. It comes out super dark brown with a small tan head that leaves some spotty lacing.

Smell is pretty inviting, nice warm chocolate and boozy fruit notes, big roasted malt overtones. Flavor starts with a prominent malty sweetness, chewy. The middle is a big roasty note with obvious chocolate, finishes with a bit more char and you get hints of the barrel here. Bit of booze on the backend to give it some spice, but it's not overly done.

Mouthfeel is pretty sticky and smooth, body is a bit heavier than what you would expect. Overall I think this is a very solid Baltic porter, an enjoyable beer, and much more balanced than the past beer that was barrel-aged, Reposado Negro.
