Sampling a 32 oz growler at cellar temp poured into a mug. A frothy khaki colored head of 2.5 cm foams up and fades slowly to a sturdy surface layer. The beer is a rich dark cola brown color.
The aroma is some roasted malt and faint doses of coffee grinds. Mild nose overall, which fits the style.
First sip reveals a light to average body with fairly tingly carbonation that rolls across my palate.
the flavor is roasted malt and coffee for a hit mixing with a bit of sweet chocolate and then back to roasted notes that linger after the swallow.
Not really much hop profile that I pick up and the beer drinks very easy .
A nice example of the style, Im glad to have tried it and may pick up some more next time I swing by the brewery.

Had last night at the brewery into a pint glass. Pours a near black with an off white head that stays and leaves lacing. Smells like a clean lager, hints of coffee when warm. Taste is spot on for the style, initial wave of roasted malt, restrained sweetness, notes of coffee underneath. Finishes clean, a hair bitter, dry, some residual char. On the end of light bodied but not medium bodied yet. Overall one of the better beers I've had here, very well executed. Talked to the head brewer, Andy, at the brewery who said he wanted the kick this one up a notch for the next batch. Can't wait!
