The appearance was a fairly dark copper almost light brown color with a cap of a little white foamy head that slid off at a moderate pace. Some light lace ran here and there.
The aroma had some caramel/toffee malts up front playing with some roast, light whiff of coffee and ended with a sweet earthiness.
The flavor was a mix of sweet to roasty malts then the coffee tastes meld fairly nice. Light biscuits seemed to come in right before the aftertaste.
The mouthfeel was almost medium bodied with a fair sessionability about it. Low carbonation. ABV felt good. Nice semi-smooth to roasty sort of finish.
Overall, American brown ale? Me, I'm not so sure, seemed to need a bit more hops to tell me this was supposed to be "American styled." In my opinion, I'd want to say this leaned towards the English side, but well, I'm not so worried, pretty sure I could have again.

Had last night at the brewery into a shaped pint glass. Comes out a clear copper color with a small head, leaves minimal lacing.
Smell is malty, some roasted malts and caramel, maybe the slightest hint of coffee. When cold, this beer is actually pretty decent, nice roasted malt notes up front, chewy bread, middle has a good little coffee note to it. Finishes very bitter, earthy. When warmer it's a bit of a chore, the malts don't provide enough balance against the bitterness and it lacks a depth of flavor like a good brown ale should.
Overall a decent brown ale but for 7.2 I was expecting a richer brew with a thicker body.
