Pouring a cellar temp growler into a snifter. I picked up the growler 2 days ago. The beer pours a rich cola brown color with creamy beige head of 2 cm that fades to a sturdy edge layer and a few wisps of surface layer after a few minutes.
The aroma is rich malt with chocolate notes of cocoa powder and some vanilla. I also get a little brown sugar note making for a sweeter experience. Overall the nose is pretty mild but is enjoyable, I would like it even more with a little bit of roastiness, which I am not detecting.
The beer is smooth textured and a little on the creamy side actually with an average body and fine gentle carbonation. Physically this beer is easy to get in my belly.
The flavor is what was expected after the aroma, lots of malt forward flavors. I get the sweet chocolate and vanilla notes, more roasted malt hits here than on the nose and that is actually the flavor that lingers after each swallow. I dont get any hops nor booze on this malty brew. It is a sweet roasty porter that is very approachable and straightforward. A good brew for the malt lover, definitely not a hophead beer, nor should it be. Glad I picked some up.
