Ruffled Feathers is our attempt to spread our wings and try a new flight path with a luscious, fresh-pressed texture bursting with juicy tropical notes and just enough bitterness to finish clean and crisp. Flavors of ripe mango, bright citrus, and stone fruit from a generous hopping of El Dorado, Azacca, and Eureka hops give this surprisingly hazy IPA a brilliant clarity of flavor.

L: Opaque gold with a foamy white head. Good retention. Sheets and spots of lacing.

S: Ripe apricot, papaya, pineapple, white grape, mango, honey.

T: Big mango, papaya, white grape and mango upfront. Some lemon and orange zest. White bread malt with some honey. Has an odd plum and grape juice note near the finish. Finishes with just a touch of bitterness. Mildly sweet, but balanced. This NEIPA actually tastes juicy.

F: Medium-plus bodied, moderately carbonated, smooth and creamy.

O: An excellent NEIPA! Really hits the mark in so many ways. Actually juicy tasting.

16oz can poured into a snifter.

A: Golden color with an egg-white-in-a-drink sort of haze to it. Pillowy white head retains very well and leaves clumpy rings of lacing stuck to the glass.

S: Floral and grassy with an aroma of fresh lawn clippings. Candied lemon, pithy white grapefruit, tangerine, and a hint of mango. Underlying doughy grain base.

T: Tangerine and mango up front, pithy white grapefruit, candied lemon peel. Minor bitterness, though there is a bit of leafy hop spice to it. Grassy and herbal, mildly peppery. Muddled and doughy grain base. Tropical hop finish with some lingering, modestly bitter hop spice.

M: Chewy and milky sort of texture. Medium body. Carbonation has a bit of a crisp bite to it. Some gritty and mildly astringent, enamel-raking hop tannins.

O: About par for the course for the style, but it lacks the real room-filling "pop" of tropical hop flavor and aroma that the best of them have. It's all there, just not as bright and clear as the elites. Those who demand the haze and soft tropical hopping should still find enjoyment here, though.

Poured from the tap into a tulip glass. The appearance is a murky gold color with a large white head. The aroma is tropical fruit and hops. The taste is hop driven with the tropical fruit blended with pepper coming up behind.
