Garnet brown with film of tan. 3.75
Raisinettes and kirsch. 4
Demerara, carob, a touch of bark and slight oily fruit. 3.75
Light to medium, smooth, round. 4
Not feeling the coconut. Only 4.5% keeps it thin and underpowered. Easy, but I don’t get the fuss. 3.75

Bottle: first had a 75mL sample at Beervana, then purchased one from New World Wellington - a standard, big 500mL brown bottle with a decent craft label.
Appearance: pours a very dark brown tending towards black. Quite solid, with a half-finger beige head that stops at a solid cap.
Aroma: there is some coconut, but also lots of roasted coffee with some cocoa. Plenty of aroma for a porter, which is a nice change.
Taste: unfortunately the coconut drops away, to be replaced predominantly with that roasted coffee flavour. The coconut is still there, but way in the background. Still not a bad porter, but I definitely wouldn't say it should be called a coconut porter - far too demure.
Aftertaste: still with the roasted malts and not all that much else.
Mouth feel: pretty good - moderate to heavy in body with a moderate, fine carbonation. Decent.
Overall: this was Kererú's offering at Beervana for the 'Anzac Biscuit' challenge for the upcoming 100th anniversary of Gallipoli. Personally I preferred Behemoth Brewing's Brave Bikkie. Still, not a bad porter at all - just missed the mark on the 'Anzac Biscuit' thing.

On tap at the Fork & Brewer in Wellington.
Clear but deep, dark red coloration.
Fabulous aroma: rich, complex and highly appealing with caramel, toasted coconut, and a hint of pinot noir barrel. A hint of red wine in the flavor too where the toasted coconut is unmistakeable but not overdone. Very good sweet/bitter balance. Complex and dynamic flavor mix.
O: an excellent porter with wood-fired toasted coconut. A very big beer for 4.5% ABV! Highly recommended.
