Lots of thick head quickly, not a powerful smell but you can smell the chocolate and sweet roasty flavor. Taste is where the points are, as this beer is nice and dry (and low abv) like a pub porter as opposed to an uber-craft porter. The cherry tartness comes in as a nice second wave, and the dry finish leaves you wanting more. Best of the Tuned series so far.

For those who have not tried this beer you are missing out. I have had beers from every major craft brewer and this is an excellent beer! Wonderful chocolate aroma with a warm body and a smooth roasted malt backbone. Enjoy!

Poured from a 22 oz. bottle into a tall pint glass.

Appearance: Pours a deep dark brownish black with a moderate amount of bubbles. Solid three fingers of tan head with decent retention. Leaves a lot of creamy lacing around the glass.

Smell: A roasty, sweet, and creamy dark malt forward aroma with good hints of chocolate and fruit. Dark roasted barley malts with good hints of dark chocolate, coffee, toasted bread, biscuit, caramel, cream, grains, yeast, and nuts. Solid hints of sweet cherry along with some lactose. Hops are very light. A pretty solid roasty porter aroma.

Taste: Like the smell suggests, a sweet, creamy, and roasty dark malt driven taste with good notes of dark chocolate and cherry. Upfront dark roasted barley malts with good notes of dark chocolate, coffee bean, vanilla, cream, milk, caramel, toasted bread, grains, yeast, and nuts. Good sweet notes of cherry and some sugar. Subtle hops. A pretty solid taste.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation. Very creamy, silky, and smooth.

Overall: A pretty solid take on a porter. Good chocolate flavor with a nice sweet kick of cherry.
