From tap to Imperial Pint glass. This is a custom brew for Merlyn's Rest in Minneapolis.

This looks more like a brown than a red ale, but I'm not that familiar with Irish reds. Pours a medium brown with a two-finger off-white head. Streams of bubbles from the bottom of the glass.

The aroma is malty with a light dose of bitter hopping.

The flavor reminds me of English brown ale, like a Newkie, maybe a bit more dry. Roasted malt comes through, but not strongly, as does the hops.

In the mouth, it's medium bodies with a bit of carbonation prickle coming through the overall smoothness.

To sum up, it's not overly complex, but reasonably enjoyable.
