S: medium low aroma of chocolate, traces of coffee and light grain with no harsh or burnt aromas.
L: deep dark brown as bubbles slowly rise to join a 1.5" tan blanket of foam that persists and leaves thick lace.
T: very creamy and chocolate on the palate joined by a light touch of coffee and dark dried fruit.
F: The body is very soft and medium full with medium high carbonation. Stronghold is well rounded and very pleasant to drink.

L-1/5 beer, 4/5 foam...not good....dark brown black colored as you'd expect.
S-Light coffee and dark cocoa
T-Coffee....dark cocoa again...some cream...nice flavor
F-Light side of medium bodied....doesn't feel as charged up as it looks..
O-Disappointed in the way this poured but really nothing tastes infected and it's a nice enough porter..

NorthGate Stronghold Robust Porter. "This ale was brewed and packaged in Minneapolis, MN." 6.0% ABV. 25 IBU.
Deep black coloring, slimmed brown ring of foam riding on top.
In the nose: roasty-toasty meets sweet and creamy, with appropriate doses of bitter. Perfectly pleasant and right on for a robust porter.
In the mouth: creamy smooth, bittersweet and malty. Medium body, definitely drinkable, ending refreshingly sweet, then dry. Nice, nice, and then more nice. This is my kind of porter. Bring it on, and then bring it on again.

Strong chocolate, molasses, caramel and light roast aroma and taste. There is also a burnt caramel aftertaste that distracts slightly. Creamy and smooth body.

This beer pours very dark.
The head is frothy. It did dissipate, but there was some lacing.
The nose is hard for me to describe. I do like it though.
The taste of this beer is, well, hello! I get chocolate notes. I get smoke. The smoke is awesome. I am a fan of smoke in beers, and this one has it.
It feels good going down. It isn't very watery.
Darn good beer, and will look for it again.

Nice looking black porter that has a large head that forms and slowly settles to a thick cap. Heavy lacing is left down the glass. Aroma of dark chocolate, marshmallow, pinewood, and a bit of earth. Certainly smells appealing. Good flavor as well. Get a lot of unsweetened chocolate upfront, with additional notes of pale grain, spice, earth, and caramel. Just a little bit of yeast esters. Bitterness is low but the beer is not sweet by any means. A little light in the body for something like robust porter on the label. Good carbonation. A very enjoyable dark beer that goes well with cold nights.
