From BeerAdvocate Magazine Volume II, Issue V:

While Portugal is known for their great cuisine, their beer culture is virtually nonexistent. On the label it states they brew this beer with water, malt (barley), non-malted cereals (corn), hops. Chopp pours a decent white foam, but there is a quick crackle of dissipating lace that in time nearly disappears altogether. Filtered clarity. DMS from the malt and the adjunct corn gives off a sweet creamed corn aroma with a husky grain and a faint yet brash alcohol nose in the back. Slick and crisp in the light and dry body. Gritty corn flavor throughout is not appealing in the least bit. Grainy to the point of being a little astringent, the little hop bitterness that is there has no soul; couple that with the astringent character and it's intensified a bit more. Bone dry finish with some lingering grain.

No actual redeeming qualities here to lift it out of the hole it dug for itself. Impossible to finish a bottle. We'll have to pass on (or rather fail) this one.

"Best before end of June '08":

Pours light straw yellow - almost clear water with a slight golden tinge. The tiny, small-bubbled head doesn't stay around long at all. Looks like a poor macro light.

The smell is of cooked corn with some graininess - bland.

The taste is of buttered, cooked corn. Sweet grain is there, but doesn't quite catch up to the corn. A touch of bland hops try to peek through, but are washed out. Some wet cardboard is in the weak finish.

The feel is watery and fizzy. Rather astringent with some oily slickness.

This is some pretty nasty stuff. Buttered cooked corn dominates. Even within style of a macro lager this is some sad stuff. Avoid.

Chopp is the term used in Brazil to designate a draft beer. Sagres Chopp on the other hand does not have any of the good aspects of a reasonable draft beer.

The color is pale straw and the beer is very clear. The head is white, low and with a very poor retention. The smell is non-existent and it is so watery that I had the impression of drinking a “barley juice”. It has a moderate carbonation, low-strength and as the flavor was not there to begin with, it has no aftertaste at all.

Overall: bland, characterless, not a beer in my conception. Definitely not worth a second try.
