Pours an attractive red color, thin off white head. Lots of clarity. Aroma was of cranberry, downplayed the funk and white wine barrel tartness like the base version of 1904 does.
Same in the taste, the cranberry was adequate, but it goes forward at the expense of minimizing the white wine, oak, musty, dry, funky brett notes. I've noticed on tap this is much less funky than the bottles.
Ultimately this was a nice spin on the beer, it makes me want to see what other fruits they can use, but ultimately I still prefer the base version so far. Bring on some mango or cantelope since we're in Nevada.
