Pour is completely transparent orangish ruby with a white head. Nose is slightly unripened plum, blueberries, creamy lacto and faint notes of grain. Taste is a bit less fruit, the plum is there, blueberries, light sourness, a bit thin in the flavor, lacto is lighter, high carbonation, light body, moderate acidity, soft body.

Pink Kool-Aid with no head retention.

Nose of tart berries and plums. Slightly lactic.

A bit thin on the flavor, but it's less than 3% ABV. Some lactic sourness and lingering tartness. Big fruit presence.

Overall a tasty, thirst quenching ale to chase away winter. Bring on the spring!

12.68 oz bottle courtesy of CooperEllis pours a reddish color with a pink head...lots of floaties. Not much for retention or lace.

Nose is more subdued than I would have thought...tart, fresh gooseberries, prickly pear cactus and..well...not much else really.

Hmmm, not much here really....tart berries is about all. No malt, no wheat, no sour. Just too simple and the low ABV is a bummer and gives the malt portion a flabbiness like no other. Fun to try but not very enjoyable compared to the majority of berliners.

375 mL bottle poured into a snifter.

Appearance - Pretty deep pink body. Small white head. Medium collar.

Smell - Wheaty grain. A faint berry aroma. Slight acidity. A bit musty.

Taste - Berry is more sustained throughout, but it's got an artificial sweetness too. Grain in the middle. Barely sour at all. Unpleasant soapy, almost bleachy flavor in the finish.

Mouthfeel - Very light and crisp. Aside from that flavor, it's easy drinking. Very low body.

Overall - Too light, dare I say. Low in flavor and it allows that funny aftertaste to come through.

Figured I'd drink and review my last bottle after hearing that David no longer is the brewer at Blue Lobster.

Served from a 375ml bottle into a Crooked Stave tulip.

Appearance- Beautiful reddish/pink with quick bubble white head that left some real nice lacing.

Smell- Plums, wheat, some sulfur, and mild blueberry. Plum stands out, but I'm getting this sulfur, that I don't remember having the first time I tried it.

Taste- Plum and blueberry foremost, some light yeast flavors and mild wheat. Fruit forward, with a backbone of wheat. Very very lightly tart.

Mouthfeel- Very bubbly and incredibly light with a light tartness. Could drink it all day.

Overall- A nice fruited berliner. Nothing crazy here, but very light and refreshing. Hope he brews more good stuff soon.

12.68oz bottle poured into a Jester King Funk n Sour '13 tulip.

A - Pours a sparkling, crystal clear, pinkish read that almost matches the color on the bottle label exactly. A thick finger of fizzy pink foam caps the beer for a minute or so slowly diminishing to leave a skim coat of foam that persists.

S - Plums definitely come thru up front with the blueberries to a lesser degree. I think I am getting some light grapefruit also. Interesting fruity tartness with a little bit of a damp basement sorta funk there too. Lightly grainy and cereal-ly malt base.

T - Plums up front in the flavor too..quite juicy and fruity overall. A lemony tartness brings out the blueberry a bit more than I find in the aroma, but still plays second fiddle to the plums. Tartness grows as the glass progresses pushing the fruit towards the background a bit.

M - Rather thin and almost watery in feel. Potent, high level of carbonation brings on a fizzy and foamy explosion on the tongue with every sip. Nicely sour and tart, maybe even more than is typical of the style. Plummy fruit complements nicely here.

O - Interesting Berliner Weiss...a bit high on the tartness and light on the graininess for the style, but neither are distracting or seem at all negative. Plums make a very nice addition also. At only 2.9% ABV this could easily be had throughout a day...tastes good enough to make me wanna try doing this.

Awesome pink color with a purple tint. Nose is tart berries and plum juice. Nice balance of tart berry and sweet plums. Light lactic notes with a mild puckering after the sip. The fruit, sour and tartness is in real nice harmony in this brew. Carbonation gives me a soda pop liveliness with a dry texture. Overall another nice Berliner Weisse

Man, was really excited to get this beer! Pretty expensive ($8) for a 375 ml but I've fallen seriously in love with Berliners, FloridaWeisses and Goses.

Pouring out into my snifter it looked very promising. Dark purple plum hues with slight blue from the blueberries, oh boy, this is going to be good!

The smell is quite light, slight tartness, not too much fruit.

The taste is where I was really let down. It looks like it would slap yo mama with plum and blueberry fruit flavors. Nope. There's a wisp of plum, virtually no blueberry and a very slight tartness to it, dammit! I drink the entire glass trying and trying to find something more redeeming. Nope again. More tart press and fruit would have been appreciated in this beer. Glad to have tried but for the expense of getting it and shipping it to me, I won't be having this one again. Oh well...

Bottle poured into a wine glass
A: one of the nicest colored beers I've seen: vibrant light purple/pink that was like cranberry and sprite mixture
S: pleasent with the blueberry/plum but not really as strong as I was hoping for
T/M: medium body with nice carb but I viewed it as a bit weak on the depth with slight bluberry tartness. it was an easy drinker but bordered on the line of setlzer mixed with cranberry juice

Overall it was it was a bit better than OK. I wouldn't rush out to buy it again but with a bit more flavor out of the fruit and a touch more sour I think it would have been really good

great big thanks to mr. cooperellis for the surprise delivery of this one to my doorstep.

poured cold from the bottle a sparkling opaque victoria's secret deep pink to a 14oz upland brewing goblet with a 1/2 finger, super long lasting, small bubbled white head with nice retention.

aroma of tart, perhaps a bit green and not quite ripe, berries.

ultra light bodied, super bubbly, sparkling, tart, extra dry finish.

light refreshing, tart berries, citrus rind.

ultra drinkable. very good beer.

Gorgeous bright pink, with a 1 finger light pink head. Nice fruity nose, which becomes a little more apparent as the beer warms a little. I usually think of Berliner Weiss as a style that should be consumed on the colder side, but this one really improved as it warmed. Straight out of the fridge there was a nice fruity tartness right at the front, but there was basically no aftertaste, and a very light watery mouthfeel. As it warmed though, the body filled out a little and more of the fruit flavors became apparent.

Overall, an enjoyable berliner, but the flavors are a little too subtle for my taste. If they could double the sourness and the fruit, it would be fantastic.

Another thanks to Ricky for sharing a really interesting beer.

Nice foamy 1/2 finger purple head, rosy blue hazy.

Nose nice tart lactic funk, lactic acid, tart berry, yeasty bready funk, sour blueberry, sour wheat, soured malt mash.

Taste tart, wheat sour, soured mash, little flemmy and acidic bite, little metallic acid, tart blueberries and general berry, stem tannic, green blueberry, foamy and nice overall tartness. Creamy wheat and tart lactic acid. Finish is flemmy and tart, little dry bready.

Mouth is light bod, foamy carb, little flemmy nice acidic bite.

Overall nice, a little too tannic and yeasty but still a nice berry weisse.

375ml bottle poured into HF stemmed glass, thanks to Don (DonFrap) for bringing this back for me.

A- Pours a very clear purplish red with a healthy dose of small fast rising carbonation bubbles that rise to form about a half finger's worth of off-white purplish head that recedes to a thin layer of white head that leaves sticky foamy lacing that clings to the side of the glass.

S- Definitely smell the typical lacto berliner presence along with a subtle presence of wheat and fruit including soured plums, blueberries, and some raspberries. Not bad, wish the fruit were pronounced a little bit more.

T- A heavy dose of wheat and sour lacto strike off the bat along with some sour plums and blueberries that come out more with the finish. Overall I think the wheat dominates this beer a little bit too much and clashes with the fruit a bit.

M- Light, fairly dry especially on the finish, decent carbonation, decent lactic bite to it.

O- This was a decent fruited berliner, but I've had much better ones. The plum and blueberries sounded interesting but I thought they could be a little bit more pronounced. Not a bad attempt but not something Im rushing back to the brewery for.

Bottle from Bert's
Pours a cloudy dark pink color with decent sized beige head that quickly dissipates to a cap on top. Small amount of floaties rustling about. Smells of grapefruit juice, spicy bready wheat malt with hints of berry. The flavor is tart with lemons against a mild wheat backdrop. Lingering lactic tartness mixed with non descript fruit and a hint of wet cardboard. Medium body with a moderate to high level of carbonation and a tart puckering mouthfeel. Wow that is a damn fine Berliner!

Generously received as an extra.

Pours a muddied pink with a quickly dissipating half finger head. Very typical of a no boil Berliner.

Smell is wheat, hints of berries, and some funk.

Taste is very bland for a Berliner. The fruit is very over fermented and there is no lacto tartness to balance. No brightness to speak of here.

Mouthfeel is medium, but undercarbed.

Overall: Not terrible, but no where near the Wakefield, CCB, Funky Buddha high-level fruit berliners. Just bland.

375ml split two ways into 6oz glasses.

Color is ruby grapefruit, light lacing, brite almost translucent. The aroma is outstanding with the plum dominating the front but the sour and blueberry coming through as well. Balanced, beautiful - but the taste and mouthfeel fall a bit short.

This only clocks in at 2.9% so you could forgive some omission in flavor, but ultimately there is a feeling that there should be more Berliner in there, somewhere. The body is a touch thin.

That said, this is very enjoyable, had a delicate flavor and is one of the prettiest and most uniquely aromatic brews I've had.
