L- Under a halogen light it seems notably ruby-brown, very slightly hazey, pours with 1Cm fine-bubble pale tan head. (ps 10mins later, head holds incredibly well, still looks great!)
S- It has a fruit note to it, I've seen the beer name so I'm thinking fig, though it seems more like cherry to me.
T- Tastes of cherry too; strongly! It's hoppy dry as well, again notably. It seems to lack a lot of notes that I'd usually expect to find in a porter.
F- The dry hops leave a residual bitter-zing sensation across my tongue, that doesn't happen often. I do get the sense that the ABV% is 5.7%, the Feel of it isn't lost amongst ^the above.
O- It's a curious brew. More deep ruby-brown than anything nearing black that you might expect of a porter. I was expecting some element of figs here, but get quite prominent cherry instead. It seems over-dry/over-hopped for a porter and the body is border-line thin for a 5.7% of the style. Confused, and not one I'd wish to drink again.
440ml can BB: 20/08/2021 Bought from TremblingMadness/York as part of a large pick-your own consignment to London.
ps. Try and pour in one go, if rested 1/2-way then when topping up expect much sediment. And. Now having rated it I'll read the can.... Ohhhh! Fig, bluberry and almond. Well I didn't get the former or latter and presumably thought the blueberry was cherry.... hmm, seemed that way blind-tasted!
