Copenhagen 9/4 2025. 44 cl can from Meny, Vermlandsgade, Kbh. S. Spotty can with a greenish yellow vertical stripe with the name of beer and brewery.
Pours unclear amber with a mid-sized white head. Stable. Settles as thin, almost transprent layer of foam clinging to the sides of the glass. Substantial lacing.
Aroma is medium intense with a sweet and malty odor mingling with citric fumes. Dry vibe. Sweet caramel and biscuits. A bit of ripe Peach. Lemon and lime.
Low carbonation. Slightly thick, oily, soft, almost flat texture.
Flavor is medium intense with a medium strong sweetness followed by a slightly stronger bitterness. Aftertaste is bitter with a notable bitter undertone. Lingers for a bit. Finish is rather dry.
Civiized and adequately bitter as an English IPA should be.

A 500ml bottle with a BB of April 2014 (batch 3144). Picked up recently from Trembling Madness in York. An IPA from a young brewery in Pocklington, near York. The label states that it is bottle conditioned.
Poured into a tulip pint glass. A clear sunset-amber hue with low carbonation. Forms a head of white foam that dissipates almost immediately. This doesn't bode well. Aroma of strong, buttery diacetyl with hints of faint fruit, grass and caramel. Bizarrely reminiscent of fruit-flavoured yoghurt. At any rate, not good at all.
Tastes of rather intense diacetyl, with hints of hops and a bitter finish. Notes of butter, mild white grape, faint melon, a hint of citrus, weak caramel, some fruity yeast esters and stewed hops. A restrained bitterness upon swallowing. Mouthfeel is smooth, with a mild tingly sensation from the hops. Flat and virtually uncarbonated, while the body seems oily and slightly gloopy. Flawed. Somewhat astringent, with an aftertaste of buttery diacetyl, stewed hops and faint fruity notes.
Off the rails - not a good drinking experience. It didn't look good when I poured it, as the head shrank away very quickly. Low carbonation and no sign of sediment or haze, despite the claim to be bottle conditioned. The aroma and flavour are overwhelmingly dominated by diacetyl - this clearly hasn't been matured for long enough before bottling. Some hints of aromatic hops, malt and faint bitterness, but these all take a back seat. Body is flat and textureless. This is not up to scratch - I don't like to knock a small brewery but in this case the standards need to be raised. I guess all I can say is: avoid this brewer's bottled offerings until further notice.
