My very first growler (!) from Craft and Growler in Dallas. A liter was a whopping $23.
Served in a Mole Temptress snifter.
A: The darkest brown a brown can be this side of black. Gorgeous garnet color right at the edges. About 1/2 finger of mahogany head that dissipates fairly quickly, leaving behind fantastic, viscous lacing that coats the glass nearly as well as Oatmeal Yeti.
S: Cocoa, roasted malt, tart cherry. Just the faintest whiff of coconut if I really stick my nose in it.
T: Another one of those Willy Wonka Everlasting Gobstopper beers. Mostly follows the nose, albeit in slow motion. It starts off like the base beer, a sweet roasted-malt thing, and then transitions into a more bitter, dark cocoa and finally a dry, tart cherry finish. The roasted malt lingers, to remind you it's still a stout (though BA says porter?) no matter what they age it in.
M: Very nice. Thick without being too sticky. You won't mistake it for a Black IPA, but the dry, tart ending makes for a nice clean finish relative to a lot of heavy stouts. Or porters.
O: I would put this up against Prairie's Wine Barrel Noir in a heartbeat. This may be better, and I don't mean just because it's not infected. :D
Revolver makes some of my favorite beers. To be fair, some of their beers are mediocre in my opinion, but this is not one of them. One of the best beers on tap in DFW right now.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
