12 oz bottle. Pours hazy-orange with huge, long lasting white head. Aroma is of fermented apple juice, yeast and hints of hops. Body is medium and tangy. Taste is of bready malt, earthy hops, apples and yeast. Finish is long and bitter. Strange brew.

Huge head, beer was a dark orange color with brown highlights. The aroma on this one was funky. Not too much hop presence like one would expect. The flavor is, well, weird. It kind of tastes like a stale cigarette and leaves a rather not so great aftertaste lingering on the tongue. The aftertaste is quite sweet as well. This isn't nearly hoppy enough to be an IPA. MF is a little on the thin side
I love all styles of beer and find most to be enjoyable. This one is just not good. I have a hard time drinking it and sure don't look forward to each sip.

Beer described by the brewery as: Lots of Cascade and Centennial hops. Good classic American IPA. With IBUS noted at 61.5
First, let me say that I deeply respect this brewery and what they are trying to do. The guys at the brewery were very nice. I think in a few more months to a year they will really have things humming. They need to tighten the screws a bit and focus on quality not quantity at this point. I will however continue to support what they are doing...btw I really liked tasting all of their beers at the brewery however the serving temp is way way way too cold!!
Decanted from 12oz bottle into snifter glass...
A - 1/2 inch head quickly fades leaving a thin ring of head around the edge of the glass. No lacing to speak off. Slight haze from suspended yeast. Nice orange-copper glowing color. (Appearance is a very negligible category as some of the best beers I've had were quite cloudy/unfiltered.)
S - At the start a very slight earthy-floral-herbacious hop present...quickly fades after pour...morphs into an unpleasant musty aroma...possibly from the santization process. Underlying fruit esters would suggest inconsistent temperature/quality control during fermentation.
T - The taste is quite pleasant but definitely not IPA worthy...more like a standard APA but with a bit too much candy-like fruitiness. In a blind tasting I would call this a class AMBER ALE.
M - A little light for an IPA...a little more tannic than I would prefer...a possibly undesired product of temperature control issues during the initial brewing stages. Carbonation level is great!
Overall - - definitely not an IPA...a little too fruity and not nearly enough hop presence...even for an English IPA. Let's crank up the hops guys...especially the finishing and dry hops...we need that aroma!!
Keep up the good work Captain Jack/Drunk Monkey/Fischer! I'll keep an eye out for new brews and updates the IPA.

Update - May 6, 2013: Picked up a growler of this to give another shot...unfortunately it is only slightly better from the tap...I would still say this tastes nice but an IPA it is NOT...if you are looking for a fruity and malty pale ale or amber this is for you...don't expect a huge hop presence here...try for yourself and review it! Cheers!

Grabbed a single bottle of this while out to dinner at Smitty's in Reedsville...I took my time to really examine the tastes/aromas...there are 2 major issues with this beer...one it is loaded with DICETYL which means somebody is not monitoring the fermentation proess and allowing for a proper rest and or the temperatures are out of whack...its that BUTTERSCOTCHY-BUTTERED POPCORNINESS that shouldn't be found in an IPA...second, they aren't using enough hops!!! No hop aroma or real hop flavor to speak of! Come on guys! Reformulate!
