Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a medium coppery amber with a half finger slightly off-white head that dissipates to patches, leaving light lacing. Aroma of caramel malt, noble hops, orange citrus, hints of tropical fruit. Flavor follows aroma, with semi-sweet caramel malt, citrus and piney hops, orange citrus, light tropical and stone fruit; finishes with a pleasant lingering resinous pine and citrus hop bitterness. Medium bodied with light creaminess, good mouth feel. A nice malty, hoppy IIPA, with a well selected hop bill that leans towards European noble hops, but has good pine and citrus elements. Well balanced, perhaps a bit on the malty side, which I like. Great finish. The malt is substantial and flavorful enough that this is an IIPA that crosses borders with barleywines and seems like it should cellar well. Massive ABV well covered, drinks like an IPA with 1/3 less alcohol.
