Had this beer a few years back at the brewery. Don't remember too much about it except that it was very good. I remember it having a strong alcohol aroma and taste. It tasted stronger than an eight percent beer. Rated 3-9-2023

Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a lightly hazy, very dark reddish brown with a fine, half finger light khaki head with good retention and lacing. Aroma of lightly caramel and biscuit malt, red berries, oak, hints of whiskey. Flavor is lightly caramel malt, red berries with a little red cherry, oak, brandy. Finishes with semi-sweet berry fruit and oak. Medium bodied with light creaminess. The base flavor is classic red ale, with good fruit notes and an overlay of oak and barrel flavors. There is a nice brandy-like flavor that would indicate a brandy or light wine barrel, but the barrel origins are not noted. Nicely done, keeping the basic character of the base red ale and amplifying it a bit with the ageing. The flavor seems to be from a bigger ale.
