On tap at The Genesee Brew House in Rochester, NY.
This one pours a dark black, with a small mocha colored head, and a good amount of lacing.
Smells like nice roasted malt, a bit of tobacco, bourbon, citrusy hops, and pine.
A barrel-aged black IPA kind of seems like a weird thing to try, but this surprisingly works pretty well. The bourbon character is nice, with lots of oak, with a pretty earthy flavor of tobacco. There's a good amount of bitterness and pine, with citrusy hops, and some chocolate. This is pretty nice.
This is medium bodied, and very creamy, with a good level of carbonation for the style.
This paradoxically worked pretty well.
