Pours a clear copper color with a thinner white head that is gone pretty quickly.Slightly vegetal in the nose with warming caramel and toasted bread coming thru as well.Caramel/butter flavors upfront with s drying crisper finish, some alcohol comes thru making it seem bigger than it really is.Not a bad pale bock, not enough are brewed in my opinion.

Poured into a half pint glass: color is straw, transparent, very effervescent at first with lingering fine bubbles; head is bright white with fine bubbles, presents 1/2 inch thick then dissipates to a solid top with glass lacing.

Smell is feint malt, toast, light herbal hops, very subtle.

Taste is clean pilsner/neutral malt, toast, biscuit, light earthy hop flavor, hint of bitterness and light sweetness - a good helles bock as the lighter malt prevails with lighter hops.

Mouthfeel is crisp, well carbonated, light lingering bitterness on the tongue - again good helles style.

Overall, probably Genesee's best pilot batch beer I've had - solid malt, herbal, earthy, and bitter hops, no dominant off malt flavors with higher carbonation.

pours brilliant clean and amber with a far head of white foam that lasts well. This beer has a picture postcard appearance. Nose is malty with a touch of sweetness. faint herbal hop at first that never stretches out too far. muted floral. Herbal is sweet and cool but minimal and that shows me some weedy spice!

Taste is sweetly golden. No heavy malt flavors just lots of bread, crisp and hearty. The soft palate from hops shows you all their delicate herbal and bolder spice. Finishes with a perfect bubble that gives just a tingle. Hop bitterness isis gentle and reserved. No alcohol on the palate this drinks like a much lighter beer. Only after about hlaf the glass do I feel a tingle from bitterness or warmth from alcohol. No esters from alcohol just an almost imperceptible lightness in the body, a whisper of diacetyl no dms.

Dean Jones has impressed me again and he seems to be earning all fours all the time. Cheers!

On tap at Genesee Brew House in Rochester, NY.

This one pours a light clear amber, with a small head, and lots of lacing.

Smells like sweet breadiness, very light Noble-ish hop flavor, and some honey.

This is quite light, in body and flavor, but still tasty. There's a killer malt character, deep and bready, a bit of that melanoidin thing, with a very light hop crispness.

This is light bodied, pretty crisp and light, with a good level of carbonation.

This is simple, but well executed. Genesee always seems to nail German stuff.
