A - brown almost black with red back tints if held up to the light. A bit of head that quickly disappears

S - Roasted malts, smoky, caramel, toffee.

T - caramel malts, bitter and balanced on the back end....some smokiness in the back end. Dry finish, but overall crisp mouthfeel.

O - Solid and quaffable Schwarzbier that is worth a try.

From the 12 oz can in a snifter. This mighty fine little brew pours
a dark brownish black with a very nice head of off white khaki foam
that settles to a thick ring, thin layer, and shows some mighty fine
l;acing. Nose of dark roast, faint coffee, mild chocolate, and dark
breaded malts. Flavors follow the nose nicely with a dark toast and
roasted malt note with coffee and dark chocolate mingling nicely with
roasted malts. Nice mouth feel; medium full body, medium light carbonation,
and a rich moderately sweet and slightly dry finish.

Overall, a lot to love and nothing to hate.

SOLID!

Cheers

Mostly black in color with ruby red highlights. Capped with a creamy, rocky tan head. Great retention and lacing.

Smells of toast, coffee, dark chocolate, black tea and caramel.

Tastes of pumpernickel bread and toffee upfront, followed by black tea and earth, and then dark chocolate, coffee, and smoke on the finish, with a touch of lingering roast.

Medium mouthfeel, well carbonated and creamy, surprising body for its abv. I would guessed it was closer to 6%.

Fantastic Schwarzbier! One of the best I've ever had! Genesee knocked it out of the park on this one!

Picked this beauty up at Wegman’s in Norwood, MA for $9.99 a 12 pack. Wow! Great pour with contrasting head... Flavor profile is malty with smokey afternotes. Very drinkable. Another great offering by Genesee! PS. Picked up 5 12 packs.

For $8.99 a 12-pack (In Auburn, NY) this isn't just good beer - it's GREAT beer. I have been drinking Genesee beers since the 70's and this is IMO the best beer yet to come out of that brewery. Very drinkable and true to style. Too bad it's a seasonal beer - this is my current favorite.

Poured from a 12 oz. can. Has a cola color with a 1 inch head. Smell is of roasted malts, some sweetness, a hint of smoke. Taste is identical to the aroma, very easy drinking. Feels medium/full bodied in the mouth and overall is an enjoyable beer. I don't believe this should be a winter seasonal due to it's abv & crushability, a spring seasonal would be more appropriate.

From the 12 fl. oz. can with the numerical code on the bottom that reads: K318-1301-56. Sampled on June 1, 2019.

Very attractive looking beer with its amber-maroon color under a tremendous and lasting frothy tan head.

Big roasted malts forward aroma with caramel and molasses. Low to no hop profile.

The mouthfeel is thin or light.

The taste is also sweet and roasty but there is this slightly buttery sensation that plays under it. Mildly dry end. Still, not all that bad.

Crowler from the Genesee Brew House.

This one pours your expected black color, with a small head, and lots of lacing.

This one smells like smokey malt, roasted malt, bready malt, and light hops.

They tweaked the original Brew House schwarzbier a touch to get this canned version, but this is still quite good. It's got a great maltiness, with a high level of drinkability/sessionability. There's some very light hop character, but just enough to be noticeable.

This is light bodied, crisp creamy and clean, with an awesome level of drinkability. This goes down so easily.

You could certainly guess that this style of beer would be done really well by Genesee.
