Our World Beer Cup Gold Medal winning Hedonist Dark Chocolate Scotch Ale was aged for over 14 months in Black Button Bourbon barrels. The resulting flavor is deep and complex with nuances of vanilla, oak, caramel, bourbon and lots of chocolate.

Crowler purchased from Genesee Brew House in Rochester, NY.
This one pours a golden brown color, with a small head, and not much lacing.
This smells like rich milk chocolate, subtle barrel, and some caramel.
This is honestly a bit disappointing. It was in barrels for 14 months, but there's very little barrel, and the flavors are thin all around. The chocolate character is pleasant, at least, but it's just kind of boring.
This is pretty thin, unfortunately, with a lower level of carbonation. It's smooth and drinkable, but just too thin to be really compelling.
Given the time in barrels, I expected a lot more out of this one. It was disappointing overall, but didn't really taste bad. It just had unfulfilled potential.
