Aluminum can with a stained glass motif. The appearance is a black liquid, topped with a light-brown (chocolate milk color) head. The aroma has a huge dark chocolate and baking cocoa scent, with a little booze underneath. The taste is dryish, chocolatey, roasty, and intense. Full in body, warming, and wonderful. Well made and enjoyable straight-forward, rich stout.

Ebony with a 1/2" tan head, which slowly fades. Moderate lacing.
Aroma of coffee, chocolate, roast malt.
Taste is coffee, cocoa, roast malt.
Full body, light carbonation. Dry, astringent finish.
Who knew Genesee could brew a decent Imperial Stout?

Drinks fine but much better options at this price point, IMO.

A - Black pour with light caramel colored lacing.
S - Earthy chocolate and cocoa on the nose.
T - Light chocolate roast up front followed with some cocoa and ends on the balanced side with some lingering chocolate / cocoa powder sweetness / bitterness.
M - Big medium body with some thinness on the outer edges.
O - Middle of the road, 'been wanting to try this and stoked to have done so!

Sweeter stout. Very chocolatey, as it warms up you get something like a Belgian Dubbel flavor with dried fruit, etc. For the price, it's very good if you like a sweet stout.

I have a place in my heart for Genesee Brewing. Regular Genny is the first beer I ever drank. Nowadays I think it is just a decent cheap beer but back in the day I thought it was something.
That being said, I drink alot of different beers from craft brewers. This Imperial Stout is a solid offering from a brewery known for its cheaper ok beers. It may not be up with the best stouts out there, but it is pretty good IMO.
Would reccomend anybody who sees it on the shelf to give it a try. I will def buy some more.

Poured into a grip shaped goblet: color is dark brown, head is tan and presents a scant 1/4 inch thick but dissipates to nothing, no lacing, no remaining head.
Smell is sweeter malt and dark chocolate, light roast, but limited depth - seeking more roast, malt, or bitterness.
Taste is similar with sweeter malt - and likely a mixture barley and adjunct malts based on previous crafty Genesee examples; from there some sweet and dark chocolate, light roast, but otherwise limited; hops are clean/light and light; limited booziness even at 8%.
Mouthfeel is moderate carbonation, moderate sweetness, low/moderate bitterness; lingering sweetness and crispness.
Overall a brew that withs some minor tweaks could be excellent but otherwise this drinks like a dark, strong, slightly sweet adjunct lager.

This beer is just OK. Middle of the road grocery store level store. Not bad but not great. Won’t be buying this again.

This one pours a very dark black color, with a fluffy white foamy head, and lots of lacing.
This smells like both dark and milk chocolate, the lightest hint of roast, and some dark fruit.
This is competently well done, but, if I’m being honest, a touch boring. There’s not quite enough roast on here, as it’s mostly a chocolatey take on an imperial stout. I was hoping for more of a back and forth between the roast and the sweetness, but it’s lightly roasty, very chocolatey, and lightly fruity.
This is very creamy, and quite drinkable, with no real booziness apparent here.
I wanted to like this one more – it’s good, but not great.
