Look: beautifully clear, golden straw color. Thick white head with some lacing.

Smell: Grass. Straw. A bit of lemon zest. Maybe a little sweet malt lingering in the background.

Taste: follows the nose, except the sweetness is a bit more pronounced and perfectly offsets the bitter lemony hops. I don’t know if I’ve ever tasted this sort of mild sweetness quite like this in a Helles before, and I’m definitely here for it. It’s very subtle and not dominant or cloying, and it really elevates this beer above most of the style.

Feel: crisp, clean, and refreshing while also managing to feel a bit more full-bodied than most Helles.

Overall: this is one of the best Helles I have ever tried, even beating out many famous German Helles. I’m very surprised Genesee pulled this off as well as they did, and I will be buying more of this limited release while it’s still available.

Absolutely delicious take on Helles style. Golden yellow, nice head with lacing. Mild sweet very flavorful cracker, lemony grass, hint of bitter. Extremely drinkable and just a treat. High recommend

On tap at The Sheffield in Rochester, NY.

This one pours a mostly clear golden yellow, with a small head, and lots of lacing.

This smells like doughy and slightly sweet breadiness, lemon, honey, and some slight grassiness.

There’s a nice sharp and spicy bitterness that keeps you coming back for more, and it plays off well against the sweet, doughy, and hearty malt character of this one.

This is light bodied, super drinkable, and very crisp and clean.

It’s easy to see why this one won so many awards recently – it’s a real successful take on a simple classic style.
