Since I gave this beer such a low score, I figured an explanation was in order.
While it looks good, it simply does not taste quite right. I realize that taste is subjective, but with so many other good IPA's out there, this one just doesn't measure up, IMO.

Picked up a Six pack on sale at Safeway for $5.99. Attractive looking bottle art and the yellow discount sign caught my eye. That said, at 6.9 ABV and that price, it was good enough for a cheap buzz.
While certainly better than say King Cobra malt liquor, this is nothing you'd want to bring to a friends house or showcase in your fridge. It wasn't entirely unpleasant but it certainly doesn't have a flavor consistent with what I know to be an IPA.
It's heavy on the malt and it boasts a slight metallic hop flavor. Only recommended if your bank account is on the low cycle of the month and you have the thirst.

Pours clear amber with two fingers of cream white head. Head lasts about ten minutes and leaves a thick ring of lacing where the head began. Smell is floral citrus hops. Taste is sweet white grapefruit. Like you sprinkled a white grapefruit with some sugar. What I am missing is any pine, leather, or earth. I other words not much depth to the hop flavors. Enough graininess to fit the profile. I am past the halfway point and still have a thin layer of white head. The lacings have become spotty though. Mouthfeel is good with just right carbonation. The finish is bitter dry citrus. For those who like the West Coast style of IPA this should be right up your alley. This beer just showed up at the local Safeway stores so I must be a very fresh sample.

12 oz. bottle from Pavilions. $5 for a 6 pack.
Pours an orange, light copper color.
No significant smells. No hops at all.
The taste is watery and metallic. Like the smell, no hops and very little malt.
It has a watery mouthfeel.
I was sucked in by the price and tricked into thinking this was a small craft brewery, really it's genesee.
Skip this beer unless you are looking for a cheap fix.

Copper is pretty much the go to word for this beer review. Copper color, egg shell white head, plenty plentiful. Aroma lacked much, if any dry hopping, definitely lacking for an ipa.
Taste, plenty bitter, coppery metal taste to it, mildly enjoyable, but is lacking hop mouthfeel, just really delivers on the coppery bitter kick.
At only $6 or less a 6 pack, this is a decent beer worth checking out. Its not particularly special in any aspect, but at around $1 a bottle, it delivers enough ibus and abv to allow it to have a place in the world, i.e., your palate is a little shot, but you wanna keep drinking, but keep drinking some flavor, but not raiding the really good stuff or new stuff in your stash.
