Kveik yeast was used to produce this hazy unfiltered ale with a new variety of hops. 16660 from Hop Steiner were used to provide a tropical fruit, berry, fruit candies, citrus character in the traditional style of "Genesee Cream Ale," making this a truly unique blend of styles, a dry-hopped IPA and a Cream Ale.

On tap at Genesee Brew House in Rochester, NY.

This one pours a fairly hazy golden yellow color, with a small head, and lots of lacing.

This smells pretty sweet, with bubblegum, banana, gummy candy, and citrus.

I’m not sure I’m a huge fan of whatever these experimental hops are – as they just come across as super, super sweet. It’s kind of like fruit candy or juicy fruit bubble gum, with very little bitterness. I think the use of kveik yeast here also expands the sweetness. I’ve liked a lot of the dry hop cream ales, but this was honestly a bit much.

This isn’t the most drinkable, it’s even maybe a bit syrupy, with a pretty full body for a cream ale.

I love Genesee but I don’t really love the mix of kveik yeast and these experimental HS16660 hops.
