“Svagdricka” is a traditional Swedish fermented low alcohol malt drink, sweetened with saccharine and brown sugar.
Some gushing occurred when I opened the bottle. The liquid is clear with some visiple yeast particles, the colour is deep brown-red (60 EBC). The high head is off-white and compact. It sinks slowly leaving no lacing.
The weak smell is surprisingly dry with some molasses and cereals. Very fragile hints of smoke and burned plastic (some kind of phenols).
The taste got more of the expected saccharine sweet flavours. It is an overall mild and smooth svagdricka. Some phenols and hints of yeast. Hints of cereal and pilsner malts. Medium to light body. The aftertaste got some hints of earth and stables. Smooth sweet flavours, but the overall impression is empty. The finish is short.
The carbonation is strong with lots of small tickling bubbles. The liquid is light.
Ängslyckans is one of the youngest svagdricka breweries, founded in 2010(?). The beer is milder and plainer than tha other I have sampled so far. I hop that it will develop into a more complex drink in the coming years.
