Bomber sent by a friend.
I've had at least a couple things labeled "Belgian Stout" before that I thought were a mess, like a stout with way too much carbonation. Not so this beer.
L: Black; not much head.
S: Coffee is strong, but also some hints of fruit make it through
T: Really good coffee with some dark chocolate and roast. Slightly bitter, which is a GOOD thing.
F: Not a huge heavy beer, but not too thin either. Just right.
O: Thank you sir, may I have another.

Poured a black body with minimal head and lace. Aroma is basically roasted, even toasted/burnt, coffee malt with nary a bit of chocolate able to come through. Fuller bodied, bits of sticky chocolate sweetness underneath a dry, roasted, maybe even burnt, large coffee flavor and passes smooth thanks to the yeast (not typical Belgian yeast strain though). Not a bad beer but I'm a little biased as I am not a fan of stouts that go heavy, as opposed to light, on the coffee; if you love coffee stouts, especially strong coffee stout, then you'll want to have this beer.

Poured from a 750ml into a stemmed goblet, the beer is jet black, with a dense, low profile, foamy, light tan colored head. Aromas of dark roasted coffee, rich and bitter, with subtle char and smoky highlights, hints of cocoa nibs, and subtle fruity esters. Very rich and aromatic. Flavors are very rich coffee forward, bitter and heavily roasted. Again, followed by charred notes and hints of campfire, this beer has a very heavy bitter, slightly burnt lean to it, which totally works. Bitter cocoa nibs provide a little sweetness, but ultimately more bitterness. There's also some very slight cream highlights, and just a touch of old world fruit esters kicking around. Very smooth and dry in mouth, remaining extremely drinkable despite the all-around robustness of it. Spent coffee grounds for an aftertaste, slightly stepped on with bittersweet chocolate. I like it. The finish is smooth, dry, and with a solid bitter and roasted linger. Great beer for their first ever bottle offering!
