From the bottom of the can: "CANNED ON 09/12/19"
Appearance: The body is black but appears dark brown as it pours along the edges of the glass. The head is thick and frothy with a light tan appearance. It has very good head formation which takes on a creamy consistency across the surface with some larger bubbles that die off quickly. The head had medium retention and it leaves a nice sheet of lacing on the glass.
Aroma: There are notes of coffee, a bit of caramel, and some chocolate which smells a bit like a Tootsie Roll.
Taste: There is a nice sweet caramel flavor up front that tastes just like a soft caramel chew. Then there is a bitter chocolate flavor which cuts at the sweetness. Towards the end there is a bit of coffee and when combined with the chocolate flavor it tastes a bit like a mocha latte.
Mouthfeel: There is a pleasant curve to the beer which starts off as sweet and finishes bitter while drinking each sip. Carbonation is nice. The body feels a bit thin but there is a nice velvety texture from the head that helps it out.
Overall: The can didn't state whether or not this was made with any special ingredients. The beer was enjoyable and it did have a nice caramel flavor which fit the can's descriptive and self-proclaimed title of "SALTED CARAMEL PORTER." For porter lovers who prefer something closer to an English Porter but with a bit of a twist, I would recommend this. To those who enjoy caramel, I would also recommend this. I enjoyed it and I would drink it again.
