Attractive orangey brown brew with plenty of foam in the Maredsous goblet. Huge ginger aroma obliterates any other senses until your tongue touches the hot, sharp, and bitter liquid. From the 22 oz bottle purchased at Barons Market in San Diego.
I will credit the fact that this tastes exactly like gingerbread-- until the vicious bitterness sets in. I don't know what it is with this brewery. You are not worthy unless you're willing to drink harsh concoctions and say you like it. This is worse than the usual crop of winter beers spiced up with all kinds of stuff. The ginger is powerful, but it's the medicinal aftertaste that constricts my throat. I, the jury, find this one guilty.

Medium-dark brown with a thick light tan head that left a curtain of lacing.
Very spicy aroma. Taste follows. Lots of allspice and ginger. A hint of cinnamon, molasses and brown sugar.
Well carbonated. Lighter mouthfeel.
Not as sweet as I expected it would be. Could have had a heavier mouthfeel. Tasty nonetheless.
