Brewed especially for our anniversary, this English style barley wine was made with Michigan maple syrup and aged on Spanish cedar for a complementary, light, earthy wood layers. Candied fruits, toffee, caramel, and biscuit lend to a full bodied and rich ale.

Pours a clear burgundy with a very thin, off-white head. A little carbonation.
Sweet malt on the nose. Candied dark fruits.
Molasses, bitter hops, dark fruits, brown sugar, slight medicine taste. Wood comes through. Bitterness resonates.

Clear, transparent but dark brown ale with reddish hues. Head production is excellent, easily producing two full fingers of beige foam. Retention is fine, and lacing is quite nice.
Nose is deep, inviting, and subtle. Brown sugar and caramel malt, light floral notes, cedar, honey, and maple.
Flavor follows, with an emphasis on the wood up front and lasting throughout, but yielding to the malt base and maple syrup, which is itself understated. Really a complex depth to the brew. Brown sugar, corn mash, dark bread, prunes, rye, black pepper, pine, orange marmalade.
Full bodied and slightly hot brew, basking in its 11.5% ABV instead of hiding it.
