Hundreds of pounds of oats went into the mash kettle alongside a variety of chocolate and caramel malts to generate that sweet backbone you expect from any cookie worth its crumbles. Speaking of sweet, this time we teamed up with One Sweet Kitchen here in Des Moines and added dozens of their delicious oatmeal cookies directly to the mash! Of course a good cookie isn’t just about feeling its oats, so we liberally dosed the batch with vanilla and cinnamon to give it that freshly baked appeal. Grab a pint and a four pack, one sip will have you feeling like one smart cookie. Cheers!

The smell was very sweet and light, with that cinnamon and vanilla coming through easily. The body, however, wasn't really for me, with a whole lot of sweet flavors competing very quickly, creating a tangy, acidic taste that made it hard to pick out anything in particular other than something almost sour. Very little of the chocolate, coffee, or malts that might be expected from a stout can be found.

Aroma is cinnamon/spices, oats and dark malts. The flavor is dark/roasted malts, coffee and an acidic/pretty spot on oatmeal cookie/cinnamon spice finish.

Confluence Oatmeal Cookie Stout, 7.1% ABV. Pours black with a 4+finger light brown head that left lots of lacing. Nose is strong oatmeal, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Taste is oatmeal, slight sweetness, moderate bitterness. Excellent thick and smooth mouthfeel, overall very excellent.

16oz can. Poured out a dark brown color with a small, light brown head of foam. It smelled of rolled oats, chocolate and bready malt. Kinda did taste like and oatmeal cookie. Sweet and malty.
