At Confluence we strive to bring good things together, and we’ve been very lucky over the years for that to include a lot of great brewers. In fact, several awesome brew teams from Flix, Reclaimed Rails, Court Avenue, and Brightside often meet up in our taproom on Fridays. Is that just an example of good friends swapping work stories while sharing a few pints, or is it a cover for the secret machinations of the Metro Brewers Alliance? Sure, James and Dustin may have told you it’s all about making crisp pilsners, dry hopped with a delicious blend intended to showcase flavors and aromas of pineapple, citrus, and berries to celebrate a 10th anniversary for Confluence—but is that true? With Andrew and Mike out east, Jack and Lucas up north, and rumors about a southern brewery joining the fold, just how far do they hope to expand their alliance? And is John Martin somehow at the center of it all? Grab a 4-pack and dive in to find out just how deep this rabbit hole of delicious celebratory flavor goes. Cheers to 10 years of great beers and many more!

Looks amazing out of the can: straw yellow, clear with copious white pillowy head with great retention. I fully expected a self-described “Hoppy Pilsner” to be full of American hop aromas and flavors…Smell is interesting, vegetal in a V8 and oregano sort of way. Some weed-y undertones come to bat as well. Not bad, but not pilsner. Flavor has some oregano as well, with some good bread lines and assertive bitterness to finish. Mouthfeel is crisp and clean. Overall: fair, and a rare miss by this brewery. I am curious about the V8 notes here, what gives? This is an example of a collaboration beer that is worse than the standard from any of the participants individually. The recent Lua and Confluence collab., Lager Life, is the opposite, where it is practically perfect and the two breweries seem to have worked synergistically to make an amazing beer.
