Can from John’s poured into glass. Dark brown, nice head at the start. Quality doppelbock.

L: Polished mahogany with reddish copper tint. Poured at 48 degrees F into a tulip. Light tan head dissolves into a solid ring.
S: Doughy, bready malts. Is it redundant to say both doughy and bready? Baked figs, caramel, and hint of chipper hops.
T: Slightly winey fruit and snappy hop arrival, moderate acidity with building honeyed sweetness mid-palate, with caramel and fresh bread on the back and into the finish, which is syrupy and slightly earthy.
F: Burly and slightly syrupy
O: This is a solid local craft example of style that I really enjoy every Spring. It's just missing the balance that the really great doppelbocks exemplify. It verges on cloying late in the development on the tongue, and the mouthfeel is a awkwardly syrupy.

Pours dark amber with 2 finger fluffy head that takes a while to go away,
The aroma is lightly roasted malts, slight nuttiness. Pretty similar to others in the style.
Flavor, it’s big and malty. Lots of caramel sweetness toasted bread crust and some Nobel hop bitterness.
The mouthfeel is nice and thick, perfect for the style.
Overall, I’d definitely drink this one again. Confluence is good at pretty much everything, this isn’t an exception.

Had on tap at a bar in Waterloo.
Pours a dark amber with downish head.
Smelled sweet roasted malts. Similar to many bocks.
Tasted great. Full roasted lager flavor with a Light finish that didn't leave you needing to drink more.
Smooth finish that makes this easy to drink a few. Something I usually find hard to do with dark lagers.
Overall a great local brew. Would recommend anybody to try.

L (4.25) - Nice dark color, with a light tan head on top. Takes a bit for it to come down, but reasonable.
S (3.75) - Not a whole lot of aromas here. A little roast or nutty smell. Very little hop or anything else. But this style isn't supposed to be much in that way.
T (4.25) - This beer has a good taste. Good dark-roasted tastes and aftertastes. Not too bitter. Not much hop presence. Not much alcohol taste either.
F (4) - Decent enough mouthfeel. Good carb, fairly smooth drinking.
O (4) - This is a good honest doppelbock. It comes in a quart bottle, so you're in it for the evening, and that's okay. I would drink again, for sure.

On tap at the Gaslamp - very authentic dopplebock & great way to warm up a cold Febrewary Friday night w/ a couple of these. Very dark, rich, thick & satisfying. Recommended!
