A schwarzbier is a black lager from the Bavarian region of Germany. This beer is has a light to medium body and is dark brown to jet black in color. While soft coffee and toasted flavors are allowed there should be no aggressive or pronounced roasted flavors. Bitterness is soft but noticeable from noble hops in the finish. Some equate this to a black Pilsner.

Pint served cold in a pokal glass at the West Lafayette location. Dark brown in color with khaki colored head. Aroma is minimal. I'm outside with a breeze, so I'll give that a pass. The taste is semisweet pale, caramel and toasted malt. All the dark malt is hidden with zero roasted malt influence. The feel is thin bodied with average carbonation and a mostly dry finish. Overall, very good dark lager.
