This was poured into a becher pint glass. The appearance was a fairly dark amber color with a decent carbonation seen rising to fill a finger’s worth of eggshell white foamy head. Stringy lace. The aroma had some caramel/toffee maltiness up front with some earthy hops. Sly little bits of dark chocolate came in at the end. The flavor was basically the same as the aroma - the malty sweetness rolling into the bitter portions of hops and popping some dark chocolate to meld gently. The aftertaste was full of the same initial taste. Finish was basically the same as well. The palate was about medium bodied with a decent sessionability about it. Good carbonation and the ABV felt good. Overall, pretty nice amber worthy of having again.

Can from Kelly and Paul, Thanks
Pours a deep amber color with mild clarity and a bubbly off white head that persists. Caramel maltiness with a hint of chocolate. Light fruity earth to counter. Nice gateway craft beer.

Out of can. Looks ruddy. Pleasant rich flavor. Slickly, slightly bitter feel. Some caramel action in the taste and a little bread. Pretty mild and light overall. Smell is deceptive. Tastes better than you expect. Not too sweet. Not too shabby. May revisit if I can find it again.

L - dark reddish amber. Copper caramel.
S - sweet cloying caramel.
T - flavor is a little more well-rounded after the initial smell. More caramel characteristics with a bit of a drying bite. Crisp! Floral. Taste is gone as quickly as it comes.
F - refreshing. Light, but still silky. I could throw a few of these back (and I have!)
O - nice and sessionable. Oddly satisfying out of the can too. Must be the fun texture!

Whew! I CANnot tell you where this came from. Tone77 credits me with getting him one, but from where? I really need to get caught up on the backlog here at Chez Woody! I am dedicating myself to this daunting task, rarely stirring out & even more rarely, buying more beer (for the time being).

I Crack!ed it open & gave it a gentle Glug which produced a brief foamy finger of tawny head before falling to skim. Color was Deep Amber/Light Copper to Copper (SRM = > 13, < 17) with NE-quality clarity. Nose had a bready, grassy smell, like biscuit malts & Noble hops. Interesting! Mouthfeel was medium. The taste was more pronounced in terms of its hoppiness than it had been on the nose. It was more pine/evergreen-like, but I still tasted a biscuitiness along with it. When craft brewing began in the mid-to-late 1980s, Amber Ale was very common, but it was also (usually) very malty & sweet and fell out of favor for a long time. Since then, it has seen a reboot with hoppier versions like this. I like it much more than the sweeter varieties. This had a nice, semi-dry finish and was easy to drink. At 5.6%, it CAN easily be part of the summertime cooler.

A thanks goes out to commander of all things canned, woodychandler, for this beer. Poured from a 12 oz. can. Has a chestnut color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of caramel malts, a bit bready. Taste is malts, light caramel, hops are present, light bread. Feels medium/light in the mouth and overall a pretty good beer.

12 ounce can purchased at CBC West Hartford. No freshness dating.
A lovely dark copper pour with a moderate head. The beer needed to warn considerably before revealing a sweet malty aroma with some toffee notes. The taste was rather sweet, malty with a bit of bitterness in the finish but all aspects of the flavor were quite subtle. Overall, it was fine but I'll be unlikely to seek this one out again.
