The appearance was a mostly dark brown color with some light red hues along the sides. Finger’s worth of tan foamy head that quickly dissipated to leave light messy sliding lace. The aroma had some coffee bean roast and sweetness. Light hazelnut, some bitter to sweet chocolate. The flavor was somewhat sweet with the bitterness making a good effort to try and balance somewhat nicely. Malty sweet aftertaste rolled right on into the finish fairly nice. The feel was between light and medium on the body with a pretty good sessionability about it. Carbonation felt fine. ABV felt appropriate. Overall, nicely done brown ale that I could come back to if I could get it again.

Great beer. Really tasty and a great mouthfeel. The hints of chocolate and coffee are fantastic

On tap at Backstage in Torrington.
A very dark brown with a dense, creamy head, this looks solid. The nose reminds me of Box of Chocolates, another sickeningly sweet beer. Sweetened milk chocolate, coffee and caramel are present. Some honey and brown sugar are also noticeable. The palate is similar. Watery, like every other beer that I've had from this brewery, there's watery caramel, sweetened milk chocolate with weak coffee and some honey. Poor.

As it's said in Wordpress: WYSIWYG: chocolate aroma, coffee bitterness, in a smooth and surprisingly "drinkable" brown ale. It's not going to cover your mouth like a stout, or get away from you like a lighter ale, it's a nice, balanced brown ale with the aforementioned fixings.

I had this with dinner at a restaurant in New Haven on Sunday. It smelled wonderful and had nice color and head but tasted a little watery. I'm a big fan of Founder's Breakfast Stout and was hoping this would be as good, but it didn't have the full body and taste I was looking for.
