i really saw myself loving this one, after i have been so keen on most of the other hoppy beers i have had from roadhouse, but this didnt impress me the way i wanted it to. i like it being lighter in color and in grain character, lightly hazy and almost whitewashed looking, but the hops seem kind of understated to me, i think i am discovering that i like the wet hop ipa types better than the pales for that reason, like i just kept waiting for it to pop on the palate and it never really did. still fresh and as the name says, clean too, and its a nice drinker, but it fails to distinguish itself from the crowd of wet hopped beers in town this year, at least in my opinion. not sure what the hops are, but they taste like centennial or cascade or something piney and northwestern and higher alpha, as this even has a little bitterness, which most of the wet hop beers dont. its very fresh, and there are light mango and pot notes here too, orange juiciness as well, but its a little more in the nose than the taste for me, somewhat muted to me when i drink it. there is a greenness to it also, grassy, botanical, like i can taste the cones themselves in the beer. i like the light softness of the grain base, wheaty to me, and real dry, so the hops stand out in the finish, the carbonation is also excellent. this doesnt feel as oily and rich as some of them, suggesting to me a somewhat conservative recipe, but could be wrong. i like the beer, but i dont love it, it doesnt jump out of the glass as a wet hopped beer, and while its drinkable and objectively good, its not as cool a showcase of wet hops as it could be. still, i like what these guys do, especially with the hoppy stuff, they just could have gotten a little more out of this one in my opinion...
