a solid oud bruin or flanders red type, a hybrid of the two kind of in flavor, some deeper malts to it, but also a nice sharp vinegar profile and on the dry side, layers upon layers of fruity suggestions, red wine and oak complexity, and obvious maturity, it also has just a little funk to compliment the acidity. i liked this better than the plum version i had, it doesnt need any fruit. to me, this already has pie cherry, red raspberry, and medicinal currant fruit character, nice against just a little bit of chocolate type malt, and the rich oaky low end. its a little bit acetic, like i couldnt drink a ton of this, but its also pretty well refined, dried out for the style, and rather well done overall. i like that it has some body, plenty of carbonation too keeping it moving along, and it opens up to port wine and vanilla notes as it sits, always right on the line of being too sour but never crossing over. its impressive how much these guys are doing right now in terms of styles and variety, they really are killing it, and these more ambitious beers have all been solid. a fun serious, id like to try some of the other versions, but again, i think this needs no fruit. wine grapes would be cool, maybe strawberries too, but none of it is necessary, this is complete and satisfying on its own.
