plum edition of their wood aged oud bruin, a neat twist, but it muddles some of the nuance of the base beer for me, which i liked a whole lot. this is murkier, browner, less bright in the glass, more sedimented from the tap, just looks and feels a bit fuller. the plum is a cool feature, its skins add additional tartness, but its sweet flesh covers up some of the deep red berry nuance i got from the original. it seems to double down on the vinous elements through, huge and rich silky woody red wine notes, this almost needs a steak with it, vanilla and tannins, astringent acidity too, is this one aged even longer than the original vixen? it certainly seems that way. the plum combines into this well, almost like it was always a part of it, and if i didnt have the original beer in such close proximity, i might not even be able to pick them out, which is more a compliment than a critique, super well integrated. this is overall a bit more acidic than i want to drink very much of, but the flavors are excellent and the wood profile is enormous, bigger than the fruit. i like the way it combines with the darker grains in here, very autumnal. could use a little refinement at the edges, but they have something cool going on with this series...
