16oz can pkg date of 01/08/2026
Clear medium brown. Very minimal white head. Zero retention.
Absolutely no smell. Perhaps a faint bit of sulfur.
Not a lot going on with flavor, it has a sweet aspect, very little hop or malt. I was expecting a little caramel or dark malt character, but it’s just not there. It’s vaguely similar to Dos XX amber but not as flavorful. Mexican ambers are either Vienna lagers or Dunkels, this is neither. Actually, this reminds me a lot of the old school Amber Michelobe from the 80’s. I remember Pizza Hut had it on draft and we’d get it by the pitcher. I used to think it was the best beer in the world.
Ahh, memories.

16oz can from Brewers Haven. Dark, clear amber pour, creamy off-white head. Sweet, malty aroma. Taste is smooth, malty, caramel. Super smooth and refreshing

another cool new one from these guys, mexican dark lager, negra modelo style, but crafty, and its real well executed, nice deep amber color, average just off white head on it, some lace rings as i drink down my draft pint, fine clarity, appealing depth of color. the aroma is toasted and somewhat rich without being too sweet, still earthy, bready, and grounded, with just a little of that caramelized character, a light almond note to it, and the mild fruitiness of the mexican lager yeast, somewhat european to me on the grain side, fermented rather dry as these go, simple in a good way, not hoppy in the least. the flavor has an almost baked pretzel heartiness to the malt, a little toffee, hazelnut, and honey, but its not overly sweet, same as the nose, and there are layers of dark soil, raw cacao, and bran to keep it balanced. the lagering is nice here, this ends drier than expected, and there are subtle raisin and fig wrinkles, maybe a hint of dried citrus too. nicely carbonated, a little fuller bodied but this is still a drinker, best when ice cold but it warms up a whole lot better than the macro imports in this style space, and i think its high time there was a craft option that scratched the same itch as well or better than those, and this certainly done. excellent malt complexity in a beer thats still very approachable overall, rad art too!
