Nice caramel and light toast malt profile. Great heavy malt flavor. Not sure how “to style” this is due to the lack of yeast character, but I enjoyed this malty beer.

Pour: pint glass on draft at Chandlers in Petoskey. Didn’t see initial pour but absolutely no head, ring when received and nonlacing while drinking. Dark brown color.

Nose: dark fruit, slight alcohol, maybe some chocolate, but faint.

Taste: dark chocolate and fruit with a toasty malt background. Mild alcohol present but very smooth and easy to drink. Roasted malts come through with a nutty taste.

Mouthfeel: surprisingly little carbonation for a Belgium style. Appeared flat as can be and tasted much the same. Otherwise, decent viscosity and reasonable substantial.

Overall: wasn’t bad but won’t order again and wouldn’t recommend even trying it. To many other better options.

Honestly, kind of dissapointed. Pours a beautiful, dark copper and a rich, malty smell. However, I taste nothing but alcohol while drinking. Would not buy again

Look: Chocolate brown with golden highlights in the light. Decently thick white, creamy head.

Smell: Bright malt with a little fruitiness.

Taste: Bready malt balanced by average bitterness. A hint of oak.

Mouthfeel: Thick and creamy, but more carbonated than expected.

Overall: A nice sipping beer as a thicker, tastier lager alternative.

I liked it, but does not taste like a Belgian ale.

An overwhelming damp wood taste did this one in for me. True to Belgian advertisement on the dark ale look ( though thin and over-carbonated) and smell. But the flavor was dominated by tree bark and feel was extremely thin.

Tasting notes 10/26/17
Had on-tap at Iron Bay Grill in Marquette, MI

Appearance - Served up in a classic pint, deep copper red with a thin sheet of sandstone head. Just a few small spots make up the lacing.

Smell - Aroma is Sweet and fruity. Caramel develops as the brew warms.

Taste - Follows the nose. Sweet, fruity and lightly spiced upfront before the brew turns to a solid amount of equal caramel and toffee malt base sitting beneath. Finish hits with a hint of hop bitterness and a long, lingering malt sweetness.

Mouthfeel - Light bodied with moderate carbonation. Almost a fluffy texture; makes this a stupid easy drinker with a clean finish.

Overall - Nice flavor, made better by the smooth refreshing body. This is a beer Id drink time and again if it were something I could get my hands on.

Touch of chocolate and dark fruit but really poor take on the style. Very watery and thin on the body. Was a chore to finish.

Poured from 16oz can into Stone Brewing Goblet. Canned March 16th, 2017.

L: Mahogany color, one quarter finger head is off-white and doesn't last very long.

S: Smells of dark fruits, with a surprisingly bready presence, some caramel hidden in there as well.

T: Dark fruit, bready, caramel, quite nice but nothing super special.

F: Light, below average carbonation, that aspect really hurts this beer as it is "Belgian Style."

O: Good beer, could be much better.

A: A very dark brown in color with a full soft tan head.

S: Burnt bread and light Belgian character.

T: Creamy, with burnt bread, and fruitiness with something off in the finish.

M: Thin with moderate carbonation, and a tannic finish.

O: Cloying without much Belgian character, and a rough burnt flavor.

Surprised by the relatively low rating on this, as it's a very drinkable dubbel. Nose may be a little on the muted side, but it at least carries a nice roasted malt. Taste is very nice though. Fig, banana influencing from the yeast and a nice roasted finish with an alcohol kick without an alcohol taste. Certainly better, way the hell better than an "80" would indicate!

Clear brown body, thin white head, some lacing. Nose is caramel, bread, and flavor add a bit of minerality. Feel is moderate, with good carbonation and drying close. A good Dubbel.
