A: This poured a nearly opaque black cherry with a little tan head.
S: It smelled like roasted coffee and earthy cocoa powder, with some molasses and charred oak.
T: It tasted like earthy milk chocolate, with some maraschino cherries and cream and charred oak and molasses. It had a clean and sweet aftertaste.
M: It was watery with lots of carbonation. Bubbly body.
D: This was an odd brew with well balanced and enjoyable scent and taste. But it wasn't much like an imperial stout, and it didn't have much rum character. The body was weak, but the finish was really smooth, so it was easy to drink. Probably not for aging. Fresh was nice to try but not overly impressive.

L: Poured from a bottle to a pint glass. Had a dark brown color and a thick, mostly opaque consistency. There was a quarter inch of creamy, tan-colored, fairly long-lasting head. Average lacing.

S: A decent, but not spectacular, aroma of rum, chocolate, malt, lactose, and cream.

T: Tasted of a lot of malt, some lactose (never a good thing, in my opinion), a light creaminess (especially in the finish), a good shot of rum, and a bit of chocolate. This is an uneven flavor in some ways. The rum tends to overpower the other ingredients. Overall, the flavor is little muted and / or one note.

F: An above average amount of carbonation with a dry finish. Medium-bodied.

O: This is an uneven beer with some good qualities. worth a shot.

Poured on tap in a goblet, the beer is a very dark, brownish-black coloring with a sparse, filmy, brown head. Aromas of milk chocolate and roasted notes forward, with solid lactose highlights, and hints of coffee. Very rich and balanced. Flavors are rich and roasted forward, with a solid blend of chocolate and coffee highlighted by cream and lactose characters. The body is creamy and dry, with a heavily roasted and bittersweet coffee and milk chocolate aftertaste. Smooth, velvety soft finish. Very good beer.

Very dark, but shows dark ruby when held to the light. Frothy head that persists with some lacing. Slight rum taste, but more rum sugar than alcohol. Very smooth, but not really complex. If you like milk stouts, then you will enjoy this brew.

Poured a black body with minimal tan head that left a couple of lace spots. Aroma is mostly roasted malts, not strong or burnt, and some cocoa nibs. Medium bodied, there is this sticky vanilla sweetness that comes from rum barrels as well as a woody smoothness. Beer is also smooth thanks to a silky lactic quality and drinks easy and is complemented by a woody, dry finish that has notes of dark chocolate (which I know is not same as cocoa nibs but I call them as I taste them). I enjoyed this beer and it is an easy drinker but wish a bit more complexity/balance as the "rum" sweet notes are dominant.

Pours near black, held to light clearly a deep ruby as light definitely gets through. Nice frothy dark tan head forms, retains well. Some lacing for sure.

Nose is a bit muted - hint of booze comes through, rum isn't all that there. Roasty malt and chocolate are there but not much more.

Flavor is pretty fantastic - the rum bring a burnt sugar note more than a "rum" note. Nice bit of boozy warmth, creamy flavor. I'd say this is pretty big on the lactose. Definitely a really nice flavor profile here.

Feel is a bit on the thin side but I think it works here. I don't know if I'd like this stickier from a higher viscosity.

Overall, really nice Rum barrel beer.

An Imperial Milk Stout aged in Rum Barrels. The flavor profile is excellent, the mouth feel is a bit thin, a heavier wort could be an improvement but the taste profile is great for the first attempt at this one
