Poured a dense copper body with one finger head and no lace at all. Slightly boozy and woody aroma with notes of vanilla and cherry or black cherry with a spiciness that struck me as anise/licorice along with other dark fruits. Heavy bodied beer that is thick and slow sipping with some stickiness and comes across as spicy, boozy (even with hint on backend), slight burnt and roasted malts, but enough caramel/toffee, vanilla and dark fruit sweetness (mostly like figs, raisins, black cherries and even licorice) to balance beer. Sticky finish and not much in terms of hops but there is lot going on in this beer, and it's somewhat disjointed but a pretty good scotch ale worth sipping on.
