The beer pours a nice tan head that dissipates quickly while the beer itself is a nice dark chocolate black with a fairly thin looking texture that is probably the result of the red wine barrel aging.
The smell and taste are good. Each have a prominent red wine note consisting of a sweet and slightly jammy cherry note with a bit of tartness thrown in as well. The smell has more of a wood note while the taste gets most of the wine. The chocolate part seems to be buried underneath all of it even though it manages to surface and stay during the aftertaste. There also seems to be an alcohol note running through the nose while it gets buried in the taste.
The feel is interesting. It's definitely a bit thinner and drier than the other variations while it maintains a bit of milky creaminess to it in the finish. The carbonation is biting and contributes to the dryness.
Overall, an interesting beer that is definitely well made. Go for it.
