500 ml bottle, bought in Denmark, as B.B. (Budweis Bohemia) Dark (red label). The brown labeled 4.1% version was sold side by side. Pours copper coloured (darker than the 4.1% version), good light tan head. Aroma of caramel malts but also fruity aromatic hops. Flavour is one-dimensional caramel malts, a bit too sweet (even sweeter than the weaker version) but still drinkable.

Poured from a 500ml bottle, best before 10.09.14.

Creamy beige head that is only 1 finger, body is the typical dark lager look. Smell of toasted nutty malt, bit of metallic twang. Roasted chestnuts in the flavor, bit of coffee, metallic, charred. Alcohol fuselage is felt though under 5%. Not one i would try again.

A: The beer is clear but very dark garnet red in color and has some yeast particles circulating in suspension like a lava lamp from a light amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a layer of large bubbles covering the surface that quickly transitioned into a thin beige head and then some bits of bubbles on the surface encircled by a thin collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Light aromas of sweet malts are present in the nose.
T: Similar to the smell, the taste is a little sweet and has flavors of malt extracts and nutty malts. No hops are detectable.
M: It feels light-bodied and a little thin on the palate with a low to moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer was on the sweet side, but I didn't find it cloying in any way. It was easy to drink and didn't have any "off" flavors despite coming in a green bottle.

A: Pours clear copper with quite rich bubbles in the liquid. The tan head is tall but airy. Fast dissipation leaves decent lacings.

S: Roasted malts, sweet! Bitter hops, but faint.

T: Follows the nose, still the hops are too weak.

M: Aftertaste lingers with some sweetness. The body is a bit thin and carbonaton rich.

O: As a Czech Pilsener way too weak in the hops-department. But maybe as a Euro Dark Lager...

500ml bottle poured into a pint glass.

a: pours a deep dark brown with a one finger tan head, quickly dissipating to a thin film

s: aroma of roasted malts, a lot of sweetness, very little hops

t: a strong dark malty flavor, and strong malty sweetness. very little hops to balance the beer - ends up being overly sweet and not typical to the style. carbonation is medium.

o: somewhat enjoyable, but overly sweet.

Poured out as a standard looking amberish gold color with a white fizzy head on top. The smell of the beer gives off some caramel and lager aromas. The taste of the beer is decent, I expected this to be more like a Pils but it ended up tasting much better. It's got a sweetness up front, some grains in there, and a bitter finish. The mouthfeel of this was pretty standard I think, decently carbonated and pretty smooth. Overall this is not a bad lager, I would probably drink it again.

Dark ruby amber with a creamy light tan head. Tootsie roll malt aroma with earthy noble hop notes. Sweet dark malt (tootsie roll again) with just enough Noble hop bitterness to dry the finish slightly. A simple but tasty beer that hits the spot on a 90+ degree day like today. Medium full bodied, a feat at 4.5% ABV. A better than average Dark Lager.

Pours a dark brown into my tulip chalice. Very little head. Smells very sweet and malty. Tastes sweet and malty, not used to a lager this sweet. Somewhat syrupy mouthfeel, medium bodied and a little flat. Picked this up at the Carrefour in .5 litre bottle as something different. Should have stuck to the Chimay but change is sometimes okay. In this case, keep the change. I'd try again if I was in the mood for extra sweet but will not seek this out too often.

500 ml bottle of B.B. Burgerbrau "Czech Dark Lager" -- with slightly different labeling than beer shown. ABV listed as 4.5%

served in 20 oz. mug

A - clear dark mahogany with 3 finger head that slowly dissipates to a nice top coating

S - toasted malt

T - no hops; roasted malt; some sweetness

M - smooth; full; a bit fizzy

Pleasant Czech dark lager believed to be the same as the dark "Budweiser" I've enjoyed many times in Europe.

Appearance: Pours a burnt caramel color with a quick fading head that leaves a few shards behind

Smell: Pumpernickel bread, caramel, raisins and yeast

Taste: Not quite as bready as the aroma would suggest, the flavors start with a sweet, buttery caramel and build with a bit of raisin; after the swallow, the raisiny flavor dominates the aftertaste

Mouthfeel: Light to medium body with moderate carbonation

Drinkability: Not so very impressive but who knows how long this was on the shelf; too much sweetness and not enough balance

Pours a dark red color with a thin one-finger head into my pint glass. Seems rather, well, dark for what it advertises on the bottle.

Aroma is full of sweet malt with a hint of caramel/molasses (it came in green glass. Skunked?) in the nose. Doesn't really remind me of a pils.

Taste is sweet and nearly intolerable. Syrupy. Full of flavors that are not typical for a pils.

Mouthfeel is just as intolerable. Bleh. Maybe it's miscategorized?

Definitely avoid and stick with the regular B.B Burgerbrau pils.
