We are proud to offer this traditional English sweet stout that's bursting with notes of chocolate and a hint of coffee. A dark ale, milk stout has just a touch of sweetness provided by an addition of non-fermentable lactose sugar. Aged in Buffalo Trace barrels.

Look- poor jet black zero light shining through . Deep tan head with 1/2” head in 5 ounce snifter
Smell- deep sweet grains and molasses
Taste- molasses, grains and hint of bourbon nice finish and at 7.5% ABV very full bodied! Nice!
Feel- carbonation is perfect. Not light on carbonation which for this reviewer carbonation is a must!
Overall- Church Street you have a great product! I would and will keep this in my stock! Well done!

So they took their holy cow, which is a good milk stout, and aged them in bourbon barrels, and somehow the result is much worse than expected. Look is pretty much the same as the orignal, perhaps a touch more viscous. The smell lacks most traces of the barrel, with a touch of bourbon mash, but otherwise a milk stout that has sat out and is warm. Taste is has lost most of the milk stout cream flavors, bourbon still barely there, so left with chocolate and coffee, no nuance. Feel is creamy and thick, somewhat warm and just boring. Give me the orignal any day

16 oz pour from tap. Dark brown with tan head that dissipates quickly. Barrel on the nose with slight bitter coffee. Taste has very little barrel character with bitter chocolate and coffee accents. Over all not a very good barrel aged stout.

22oz (bottle actually says 1QT 6 FL OZ) undated bottle poured into a snifter boasts a light-sucking black body and almost floats a cocoa colored cap that never really develops. Damnation also prevents lacing.

Aroma is roasted barley, coffee beans and cocoa.

Flavors match, with added lactose sweetness, and none of the flavors dominates. Just a slight taste of oak and dark sugar with a whisper of bourbon. Only 7.5% abv so, appropriately, no booze flavor or warmth.

Mouthfeel is smooth, full, and oily, but drying.

Overall a nice beer with subtle bourbon notes.
