Brewed in collaboration with MANBQUE, this frothy, malty beer oozes with chocolate and sweetness. A medley of roasted Arbol, Ancho, Chipotle and Gualillo chilies add a welcomed smokiness completing the beer with a slight touch of heat.

Thanks to Aaron for this one!
Draft pint at Independence Tap.
Dark mahogany edges, deep brown almost black. Thin layer of light tan foam that leaves behind spotty lace in the glass. Foam eventually breaks, exposing a glassy surface underneath.
Chocolatey aroma with a hint of cinnamon and coffee.
Taste is a little more subdued, though creamy milk chocolate comes through with some roasted malt and earthy spice notes from the chiles coming through. No real heat was noticeable. Thin bodied with a creamy texture, it was easy enough to drink, though could use more body. Overall it was pretty good.

22 oz. bottle, with handwritten Batch #121 written on the label. Another new beer to me from Lake Effect Brewing Co., this being the first stout of theirs I'm trying.
Poured into a Duvel tulip glass.
A - Pours a very dark chocolate color; opaque black in the glass with a giant towering four plus fingers of of soft mocha head. Head has excellent retention, and leaves some nice scattered thick lacing on the glass. Looks pretty nice. 4
S - The aroma is of creamy milk chocolate, and malt roast up front. Lactose. I'm not really pulling any pepper / vegetal / spice from the aroma at all, but it is still very pleasant. 4
T - Taste follows the nose - roasty, creamy, milky, and chocolatey. Any really pepper spice doesn't appear until the finish, but it's more of a spicy crushed red pepper heat than a fresh vegetal pepper spice. I want to say that some kind of a fruity cherry sort of flavor begins to emerge as the beer sits. 4
M - Initally, I found it to be a tad bit over carbonated, but I'm not so sure. Smooth, creamy, and milky texture, with a bit of coarse carb, and a bit of fiery heat on the finish, but not what I would describe as 'peppery', just straight up hot. 3.5
Overall, a decent chile stout from Lake Effect Brewing, but I would probably be more interested in a straight up milk / chocolate stout next time than one brewed with chiles. Still, a decent take on the style. Recommended.

Solid black pour from the bottle, but not overly viscous at all. Light tan foam that leaves some spotty lacing on the glass as well.
Aromas of roast and chocolate, with some lactose sweetness and some fruity, veggie notes. Mild pepper comes through as well which integrates nicely.
Flavor is a great mix of sweet roast and chocolate malt along with earthy chilies that have a slight veggie note. A nice bitterness moves through with a mild-to-medium heat from the peppers. I find they are quite well integrated into the base brew...provided a kick of flavor without being overbearing.
Medium bodied and smooth...mouthfeel is spot on and easy to drink. Overall, I'm enjoying my first bottled offering from Lake Effect! Definitely looking forward to more from them and I'd grab this again. If you're a pepper beer fan seek this one out.
